she said any way you want it
that's the way you need it
-- It was sweltering. Truly unnecessary sun rays were currently beaming down on the many tourists at the Los Angeles City Zoo. It was silly weather for spring, but Mother Nature didn't seem to care today. Among the screaming kids and couples on first dates, Luce was walking along, eating a melting ice cream cone, completely solo. It wasn't that she enjoyed being alone, per say, she just enjoyed going to places like zoos and museums to meet people. They proved to be far more interesting here than at more mundane places. Like the movies. The beach. College dorm parties. The supermarket.
-- Now, don't get any funny ideas- Luce knew that funny things happened in funny places, and she was just as open to meeting people there as well. She wasn't here to pick up chicks, either, if that was going on in your funky little brain. She was merely was curious to see if there was another person that was like herself, wandering the zoo solo, watching not only the animals but the people. Or maybe she'd run into a person trying to avoid other people in their group. Maybe she'd run into a slew of people who wouldn't mind hanging out with a twenty-year-old with blue hair and an eccentric taste, in, well everything.
-- And what was better than wandering aimlessly around the zoo for a day? Even if she didn't meet anyone, the animals were always fantastic. And the shops always had cute stuff. Luce wandered into one, where she spotted a huge, bright white floppy hat that screamed her name. Without paying the slightest bit of attention to the price, it was paid for and on her head without moments. There, now perhaps the evil sun would be stopped a teensy bit. Eventually, Luce's wanderings took her to the food court, where it was brought to her attention that an ice cream cone hardly counted as substantial enough to continue fueling her. Seeking escape from the sun's viscous rays, she stepped inside the least greasy-looking place.
-- Picking a seat wasn't difficult; there was precisely one table that was unoccupied. It appeared that in order to receive food, a fight with a massive crowed was required. Luce wondered for a moment how she would keep her table without leaving anything there. After a few moments, she merely shrugged and got up. Hey, if someone took the table, that was cool. Luce was in too much of a good mood to try anything with anyone, and it wasn't likely she'd do it even if she were in a bad mood. Much easier to just find another table, yes?
-- It was only a few moments that Luce had to deal with the swarm of people getting food, and quite honestly, it surprised her. Then again, the people that worked there must be used to these kinds of rushes. She turned back to the mass of tables, and hurrah! Hers was still unoccupied. Luce dug into her chicken sandwich and continued people-watching. There were small kids crying, and mothers shushing, and general chaos all around. She loved it. Luce wondered if maybe she'd meet someone here, as hers was the least occupied table. Not to mention one of the cleanest.
